Increase Search Engine Traffic - An SEO Must by Scott Million

The key to increase search engine traffic is quite simple. Follow this formula and you will be successful:
1. Research high traffic keywords in your niche. Use Word Tracker's free keyword research tool and identified some long-tailed keywords that don't have a lot of competition. Simply type in the keywords from Word Tracker into the Google search engine and note the 'results' on the right-hand side. Any keyword phrase with over 50 searches per day and under 500,000 results in Google is a pretty good and will increase your search engine traffic and ranking. Of course, there are far better, so don't stop on the first one that jumps out at you, get a good list.
2. Write articles for your website or blog that include a keyword phrase in them 2-4% of the time. Increase search engine traffic by out writing your competitors. Most webmasters are bad at writing keyword targeted articles, which makes it easy for you to out rank them. Make sure to put your keyword phrase in your title and header with other words to boost interest. For example, for "Aluminum Bats" I'd put something like, "Aluminum Bats - Whack! Swing Away Kid" or something that stresses benefit like, "Now Hit Farther than Ever with Aluminum Bats". You want to get clicked on to increase your search engine traffic, so a good title is crucial, both for ranking well and getting visitors to click.
3. Now you need to get these pages noticed and build up some link juice. Search engines love sites that have lots of links pointing to them and that will increase your ranking and traffic. You can do this by posting on other blogs, forums, trading links, etc., but this can be a long and time consuming process. If you want fast results without paying then I'd suggest using a backlinks tool to save you time and build viral links naturally, so you can focus on writing more articles to increase search engine traffic to your website.

How To Get Your Website Banned By Google by Karl Sultana

All you have to do is pay close attention to not do any of the following. Getting banned rarely happens but if it happens it is almost a guarantee that your website will remain banned. Google has a sort of submission form, so you can request re inclusion in the index if you got banned. You can use this to try and get your website back.
Linking to a banned website.
If you are doing link exchanges this rarely if every happens, because if a website is banned they no longer keep doing link exchanges. But if you know of a website that is banned, then obviously do not link exchange with it. Doing nasty things can create problems, the worse case is getting banned. Keyword stuffing for instance or trying to cheat the search engines using black hat software can raise red flags to the search engines. Keyword stuffing is when you over repeat your keywords in the meta tags or on your website. So keep meta tags short and clean. Everything that looks like cheating should be avoided. You can hide what you are doing from your visitors but not the search engines. If you put a bunch of keyword on your homepage with white color text so they are hidden, search engine still see that.
Having said all this, if you intentions are good then you are 99.9 per cent safe.
So why black hat software can get your website banned. The answer is quite simple. Search engines do not want sites that are cheating their way to the top. They do like it if you are optimizing your website to get high rankings. That is something they recommend in fact. But cheating or spamming using black hat software most often create garbage on the web and in the search engine index. Obviously no one wants that, neither search engines. Many things can go wrong if you are using black hat software and you never know when.
Other people can report your website as spam. Google has a form where you can report spam in their index. If your website gets several reports of spam or even one and it is verified as spam, you are risking being banned. Once again if your intentions are good, even if you get a hundred complaints from nasty competitors maybe who just want to out rank you, your site will not get banned. They manually review each website before they ban it. So these are just things to keep in mind when doing seo. These are bad when you repeat over and over again. Even if you over repeat keywords in the meta tags your rankings will drop maybe, but it will not get your website banned the next day you do it. Some by mistake or without proper knowledge put as many keywords as they wish in the meta tags. Just fix that and you be safe.
That is how to get your website banned, by treating search engines like you treat a game with your friends. You try and cheat. Your friends probably ban you as well. Remember just like email clients created spam and junk folder the same way do search engines. They created the nofollow tag and other sophisticated measures that work like a charm against spam.

Promoting Your Website Successfully by Angela Rogers

Anything new in the market needs to be promoted in order to gain familiarity with the masses. Once your website is created, you would definitely like it to be noticed by visitors. This is where website promotion comes into the picture. Though time consuming, website promotion helps in attracting the attention of the audience to your website. It is essential to promote your website by using correct sources. Following are the steps that can lead to successful implementation of your promotion program:
Internet Directories:
It is a good idea to start promoting your website by listing it in the popular internet directories. With major internet directories recognising it, the job becomes easier to attract a significant amount of traffic, thereby increasing your website ranking. Moreover, submitting to the internet directories is effortless. However, you cannot be assured about the acceptance of your website submission. For guidance, it is always helpful to go through the directories to understand the different ways.
Furthermore, getting started with the free Open Directory Project (ODP) can be a very wise decision, providing your website has something unique and good content to offer. It is recommended that you follow the advice offered on ODP for a perfect beginning. Identify the suitable directories and ensure your website listing. Please note that major directories like Yahoo! might charge you for their services.
Search Engines:
As soon as your website gets included in the ODP, start getting to know the search engines - like the basics of their algorithms - in order to promote your site further. By designing your website in a search engine friendly manner and identifying the SEO tactics, your promotion campaign can go a long way. Thereafter, submit your website to the popular search engines and witness huge traffic within no time.
Other Sources:
Other techniques of website promotion include banner ads (though expensive), link reciprocals (to improve link popularity), E-mail signatures, Usenet advertising and writing newsletter articles, which can also help considerably in successful promotion.
With the above information, you are now ready to promote your website successfully!

Google Page Rank Update April/May 2008 by Steve Hill

Google have just updated the visual page rank toolbar. I have been very pleased with latest update, two of my main websites now have a page rank of six and the other has a page rank of five. Google seems to be updating the visual toolbar at much more regular intervals nowadays which is a welcome change in the eyes of many webmasters. A question that many people are currently is whether the page rank of a website has any real value or importance. I will be attempting to answer this question in this article. I am the type of person who likes to read the many SEO forums that are online, basically as a way of keeping up to date with the latest web marketing and SEO news. I have recently seen a number of threads and comments from people who state that the page rank of a website has no importance, I would have to disagree.
By far the most important thing is the ranking of the website for its main keywords; this goes without saying. Having a site however which has a high page rank score just adds slightly more trust for people who may be thinking of purchasing a product from your website. Some buyers think that if Google likes the site then it must be good. For me personally, I work very hard to promote my main websites and try to follow the Google guidelines. To see that my site is rewarded with a page rank of six just shows to me that I am doing the right things and that all of my hard work has been worth it. In my experience it is the webmasters who do not follow the rules, who possibly have some form of penalty from Google, who think that the page rank of a site does not really matter. I hope this latest page rank update was as good for you as it was for me.

Increase Targeted Web Traffic - Getting Loads Of Targeted Visitors With Long-Tail Keywords by Serge Daudelin

One of the things that will make a site super successful, is the ability to provide relevant information to your visitors. This isn't as easy at it sounds, but it is vital to the success of a website. If a visitor arrives at your site looking for particular information, and they don't get it, they will hit the back button. Let's take an example in the barbecue niche. You might have a page about "BBQ smokers". That's great, but what if someone is looking for plans to build a BBQ smoker, and they arrive at your page which basically describes what a smoker is, or how it works? Would they be targeted? Would they likely stay on your site, and follow your call to action (whether it is clicking an affiliate link, or clicking an Adsense ad)? Probably not. The information is not targeted enough for that visitor.
If you created a page that was targeted to that visitor, then there is a good chance they would at least read your page, and follow your call to action. The more targeted the information, the better your conversion rates. In this example, writing an article on plans for a BBQ smoker would be the way to go. However, the big problem is actually finding these specific phrases in the first place. This type of phrase is often called the long-tail. They tend to have less competition, and fewer searches, but they are vital to the success of a site, and allow you to cater for a wider audience, providing highly relevant information to each visitor. One way to find these long-tail keywords is to look through your log files. Look for the phrases that people use to find your pages, and then create content that is more targeted to their requests.

Break The Top Ten Using High Quality PLR Articles by Shawn Swisher

One of the best ways to get loads of organic search traffic is through article marketing. Articles give your site content, and search engines love content. Having lots of unique, valuable content on your site makes it more valuable to your visitors and gets your site ranked higher by the search engines. To get good content for your site, there are several options. The easiest way is to get related content from an online article directory. This is a quick way to get content on your site, but it has its drawbacks. First, the author will typically include a link to their own website either somewhere in the article or at the end in their bio information. Second, that same article may show up on thousands of other websites as well. The search engines will see this as duplicate content and will reduce the value given to the article. Now, having duplicate content may very well be better than having no content, but there are other options to consider.
The best option is to create your own orginal content. This may be an easy thing for some people, but many people have a hard time getting the creative juices going. Others may just not have the time or patience to stare at a screen until something comes to mind. If you have a lot of experience in a particular subject that is related to your website, you could easily create a great deal of unique content on your own. However, if your website is about something you don't have a lot of experience in, writing a good article can be difficult and time consuming. Fortunately, there is a way of getting unique content without spending the time and effort of doing it yourself.
If you can't create the content yourself, private label articles are the best solution. Private label articles are often referred to as PLR articles. PLR stands for "Private Label Rights". PLR articles are written by someone else, but given to you with the right to modify as you see fit, and list yourself as the author. Be careful, though, when choosing a PLR article provider. You want a provider that uses keyword research to decide what subjects to write about. Articles with long-tail keywords are much more valuable and stand a much better chance at getting higher search engine rankings. For example, an article about "acne" will have an unbelievable amount of competition, but an article about "body acne medications" will have a much better chance of making it to the first few pages of the search engines.
Another important thing to look for in a PLR article provider is how many times the article can be downloaded. If the site allows unlimited downloads, stay away. That is no better than using an article from an article directory. Look for sites that limit the articles to no more than two or three hundred downloads. Although this may seem like a lot, with millions of web pages online, a couple hundred is not much at all. Besides, you should be modifying these PLR articles anyway. By simply adding an introductory and summary paragraph of your own, you will have a totally unique article that will be given value by the search engines and boost your site's rankings.
Many traffic generating methods give quick bursts of traffic but have to be repeated often in order to maintain the traffic stream. Generating traffic through article marketing takes time, but once your article is indexed, you can expect to see a steady stream of traffic that will continue to grow with time. Remember, slow and steady wins the race!
